Photographic Competition
 
A photography competition, sponsored by the Community College East Gippsland, is the opening event for East Gippsland on Show (EGOS). 

This Festival which celebrates arts and creativity opens on April 17th 2010. 

Eligible participants are invited to submit entries as follows:  

Competition theme:  THE ENVIRONMENT. 


There are three categories:  

  • Natural environment 
  • Human environment
  • Global environment.

Entry is free and open to amateur photographers who live in East Gippsland.  Professional photographers (those who earn any income from their photography) are not eligible to enter. More than one entry is allowed.

There will be a  Children’s section, 12yrs & under.

Format:
Entries can be colour or black and white. 
Size 5” x 7”
  (12.5 x 18cm.)  

Photos must be mounted on black card 10” x 8” (20 x 25.5cm). They will be hung for display.

Photos must not be laminated, or in a frame.

All photos must have a label on the back detailing entrant’s name, address, phone number and category.  No identifying features on the front. The judge’s decision is final.  Prizes will be awarded in all categories.

Entries close: Friday April 2nd  at 4.00pm.

Deliver or post entry form only to Community College East Gippsland, Dalmahoy St, Bairnsdale

Photo delivery date:  Friday April 9th.  
Please deliver photos to the College.

Photographs on display at C.C.E.G. from 10.00am – 4.00pm on 17th April.





Short Story Competition

A SHORT STORY competition, sponsored by GIPPSLAND COUNTRY LIFE, is a NEW event for East Gippsland on Show (EGOS) in 2010. 

The prize will be publication of the winning entry in the winter edition of GIPPSLAND COUNTRY LIFE plus $100 donated by GIPPSLAND COUNTRY LIFE.

Three runners up will each receive a $25 book voucher courtesy of Collins Booksellers Bairnsdale. The ten finalists will each receive a certificate.

The winner will be announced at the Lakes Entrance EGOS Festival, Mechanics Institute Hall, Lakes Entrance at 2.00pm on Saturday, May 1 2010.

Eligible participants are invited to submit entries as follows:

Short story title:  “An Inspirational East Gippslander”
Story length: 500 words maximum.

Entry is $5 per story. This will cover postage of feedback to participants.

The competition is open to any person who lives in East Gippsland.  Professional writers (those who earn any income from their writing) are not eligible to enter.

More than one entry is allowed. Entries must be typed. All entries must have a completed entry form attached detailing entrant’s name, address, phone number and story title.  Due to logistical issues stories will not be returned to owners.

There will be a panel of three judges and the judges’ decision is final.

Published entries become the property of GIPPSLAND COUNTRY LIFE.  All rights reserved.
No part of GIPPSLAND COUNTRY LIFE may be produced without the written permission of the Editor.

Apron Challenge

Homemade aprons utilising such techniques as patchwork, quilting, applique & stitchery made by customers of Boatshed Quilting.

Entries welcome.

Entry fee: Nil

Entries close: by mid - March 2010

“Aprons on Display” will be shown at the Lakes Entrance Art & Craft Exhibition from April 28 - May 2 where viewers choice awards will be given to the most popular aprons.
